In 2011, IMT Residential Purchased the Northridge Hospital located at 14500 Sherman Circle Van Nuys CA. While the hospital had been decommissioned for years and was used solely as a filming location, housed on site were two of the Valleys most important non-profit organizations “The Center for Assault Treatment Services” (CATS) and “Family Justice/Strength United”. Hand in Hand with the LAPD, these two organizations provide comprehensive services and counseling to both adult and minor victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and abuse.
With an uncertain future and inadequate facilities IMT Residential was able to partner with CATS and Family Justice/Strength United giving them a secure foundation from which to build on.
After a 2 year process and with help from Los Angeles City Officials an old Department of Water and Power site was secured for $ 1.00 per year. This 8,500 SF facility had been boarded up for years and had succumbed to squatters and vandals rendering it uninhabitable. IMT Residential gutted the entire facility down to the studs to reveal a blank slate. IMT’s in house design team worked with both organizations and the LAPD to design a facility that meet all of their needs and enhanced their ability to serve the community. From the flooring to the roof, every surface in this facility is new and built to last.
With $216,000 contributed by IMT Residential and contributions from 38 individual subcontractors and suppliers, IMT Residential was able to provide this renovated facility free of charge. In providing this new home for CATS and Family Justice/Strength United, IMT Residential has helped to ensure that these non-profit organizations have a permanent home and will be able to serve the community for generations to come.
The new CATS and Family Justice/Strength United facility is located at 14651 W. Oxnard St. Van Nuys CA 91411. For more information on CATS and Family Justice/Strength United call 818.718.5922 or visit official website.
